One of the most appropriate ways to start taking care of our diet results in a significant increase in the consumption of vegetables since they have a multitude of beneficial properties for the body. This is the case, for example, of beets, a very common product, especially when developing a detox diet.
It has many nutrients, provides fiber and is also capable of enhancing the cleansing work of the liver, fighting steatosis and, in turn, providing great support to metabolism. Against it, it can be said that beets are a somewhat sweet vegetable and, therefore, provide more calories than normal.
The detox properties of beets
- Beetroot is some vegetable rich in nutrients such as vitamins A, B, C and minerals such as iron, phosphorus, potassium, fiber, magnesium or folic acid. It must be taken into account that the purifying properties of this product are due, above all, to its chemical composition, which, as can be seen, is very complete.
- Some of the benefits of this vegetable as a complement to a detox diet is its ability to purify the body -due to its high amount of fiber-, the improvement it provides to the metabolism as it stimulates both liver and intestinal functions, the increase in elimination of liquids because it stimulates renal activity, improves the activity of the lymphatic system and provides control over arterial hypertension due to its high potassium content. For all these reasons, it is an excellent product to introduce into any cleansing food routine that is also low in calories.
- We can introduce beets into our dishes in various ways. Raw, since it preserves its properties better, either in salads or mixed with other vegetables such as zucchini or carrots. Cooked, with a little olive oil and lemon, to complement many dishes, both hot and cold. And, of course, in the star formulas of detox diets: juices and smoothies, in which we can also mix it with numerous fruits and vegetables.
