As you read through you will get tips on how to avoid bloating on a detox diet. Intake of protein and fiber-rich breakfast will fight bloating by delaying digestion.

What Is Bloating?

Bloating occurs when your gastrointestinal (GI) tract gets filled with gas or air. It is also a result of an excessive intake of solids, liquids, and gas which causes indigestion in the digestive system. often times it is mistaken for excess water retention which is not.

Bloating involves excessive gas, pains, abdominal rumbling, or burping. It can leave your abdomen looking swollen.

The detox diet is characterized by the intake mainly of fruits and vegetables, which help to eliminate toxins from the body and purify it completely.

One of the main problems with this type of diet is the bloating that occurs in the stomach due to the large amount of fiber in such foods. This swelling gives rise to annoying gas and stomach pains.

To avoid such problems, I am going to give you a series of tips to solve the swelling caused by detox diets.

Tips to avoid bloating on the detox diet

To prevent your stomach area from swelling, the best option is to eat steamed fruits and vegetables, thus ingesting less amount of fiber without losing the nutrients of such foods.

If you do not feel like eating vegetables and fruits in this way, you can choose to follow this series of tips that can help you reduce such swelling.

Stay hydrated with warm water

Intake of 50cl of warm water at an interval of 2 hours 8 times daily which makes it 4litres of water for a body weight of 70kg and above can help in reducing bloating by flushing excess sodium out of your system which is the primary cause of bloating.

This water intake depends on your Body mass index (BMI). For a person with a body weight, lower than 70kg can take 50cl of water at an interval of 2 hours 5-6 times which is 2.5-3litres of water.

This intake of 50ml water every 2 hours softens the bowel and increases bowel movement.

The intake of warm water should be first thing in the morning immediately you wake up from bed even before brushing your teeth, quickly take a warm water of 50cl.

Massage Your Stomach

A circular, gentle massage can increase the stimulation of your bowel and relieve you of the pains and swellings in your abdomen.

When massaging try starting from your right hip bone up towards your ribcage getting across the upper part of your belly and going down towards your left hip bone.

DIY Detox Drinks

Drinking herbal teas after a meal or detox diets at home helps you digest your meal better such as lemon and ginger tea in warm water, Mints are also good options. below are the 5best detox drinks for instant relief:

  • Warm water + Ginger + Lemon
  • Mint + Green tea
  • Cucumber + Pineapple
  • Carrots + beets roots
  • Cayenne pepper + Apple cider vinegar + Lemon water

Exercise

Regular and healthy bowel movements can be enhanced through physical activities. This helps in releasing excess gas and improving constipation in patients experiencing bloating.

After the meal, it is advised to perform a light exercise such as a 30-minute-1-hour walk to lessen abdominal bloating symptoms.

Eat Potassium-rich Foods

If you are feeling abdominal pains or swellings the best thing to do to eliminate excess sodium from your bowel is to eat foods rich in potassium such as avocado, banana, and sweet potatoes.

Both intake of warm water and consumption of potassium-rich meals flush out excess sodium and fluid from the body.

Take an Epsom Salt Bath

Epsom salts in the form of Magnesium are a natural saline laxative that can help in ditching out extra water weight from the body.

Avoid Too Much Salt

Avoiding intake of too much salt is another way to reduce bloating. These too many salts are commonly found in processed foods which can retain water in your body and lead to bloating.

Drink Coconut Water

Coconut water is a refreshing and tasty antidote that counteracts water retention and bloating. In some people, with food sensitivities, Coconut water may not be well tolerated so you can go for plain warm water.
